The social and environmental impacts relating to the textile industry are well documented and we are aware that our operations within the workwear industry have negative impacts. A good look at our operations has shown us that social impacts are most prevalent in the making-up facilities whereas environmental impacts occur in the production, transport, packaging and Use/End of use stages of our products.
The goal with our CSR work is therefore to reduce social and environmental impacts throughout our operations with particular focus on the production of our products.
Designing more sustainable products for us means selecting lower impact materials, reducing resources, prolonging the life span of the products and designing a product that is easier to recycle/reuse/repurpose.
Documenting our impacts reduction performance is of utmost importance and as such we have chosen to work with third-party credible schemes. Our making-up suppliers have for example undergone BSCI audits and approximately 99% of our fabrics are sourced form fabric supplier that holds an EU-Ecolabel licence.
We have joined the UN Global Compact and are therefore working with the 10 principles and the Sustainable Development Goals. Legal compliance of our business partners regarding social, ethical and environmental aspects is vital part of our code of conduct and we depend on risk assessment and documentation to establish compliance. We have over the last 25 years, streamlined our supply chain and are now working with various business partners that are also working responsibly with CSR issues.
Work with reducing impacts in our industry has accelerated in the recent years and new developments such as circular economy initiatives are frequently published which provide us with information and tools so that we can work better and more effectively with impacts reduction.
Our work with producing sustainably is therefore continuous and we engage external consultants to monitor the market for new developments and to help us with achieving our goal.
